Made swap from BBC to 5.3. The plan was to make the swap to 5.3 then put turbo in the winter but I came across a used turbo at swap meet today. Hope I didn't get ripped off.

Its a garret tv8513.
Doesnt have any play in and out but slight side to side play. Has a reman sticker and it looks like it has been run but it's not to dirty. Picked it up for 140 should i keep it or try to flip it?

Sorry if pics don't come out

I would just attempt to flip it... Do you know any of the specs?

Can I unbolt the housing covers and mic the impellers? I don't wanna mess it up to where it would have to be rebuilt.

The TV8513 is an 88mm turbo, not a 76mm.

Was OEM on a 8v 12.6L diesel.

Its a very large turbocharger. Probably not suited for a 5.3. Most guys use them on big blocks when pushing for 1000+ HP.

Dam, so what will it do with 5.3? Lag issues or to much back pressure. The guy was gonna use it on a big block. Was it a good pick for 140?

it will probably have some lag on a 5.3 with the exhuast wheel being so big. if you decide to get rid of it let me know. i have a tv7511 71mm 1.08ar exhaust on a ly6. and would like to swap that 88mm wheel and comprssor cover onto mine.

I guess I'm gonna run it and see what happens. What size injectors, waste gate and blow off valve would yal recommend?

Can I buy injectors that will work with truck intake that will also transfer to a victor jr down the road?
