front shock choices for 2nd gen f-body?
So, here's the setup:
I'd like to go to coil-overs without switching out the GW lower control arms. GW suggested doing exactly that + a GW shock kit. I'm seeing unneeded $$$ spent with that idea, but don't want to be a cheap *** where safety matters. However... I have a hard time believing a solid tubular control arm is going to be weaker than a stock stamped piece. People have placed coil-overs on factory control arms. So three questions:
1. Do I stick with the GW standard coil tubular control arms or get coil-over specific control arms?
2. What shocks do people suggest? I am assuming they will be double-adjustable.
3. What do people suggest for the sway bars?
- 1981 trans am, frame tied, receiving 6-point roll cage this week
- Global West tubular upper and lower control arms in front
- Global West springs front and back.
- QA1 stocker star single adjustable shocks in back
- Kmart shocks in front (remember when you could just walk in and buy them off the shelf?)
- Stock sway bars front and back (considering various upgrades)
- Wilwood dynalite 12" brakes in front, LS1 f-body brakes in back
- The car weighs @2900 and is oriented toward road course use, not drag racing.
