Default what is this trans part?

i was doing a fluid change on my 2000 5.0 awd mountaineer and as i dropped the trans pan this was laying in the bottom of it. never got a chance to see where it fell from. I know its not a LS car question but i know that there are some knowledgeable people on this site and i need a quick answer. I figure somebody knows wher or what it is or goes or even the name so i can google it. thanks in advance.

That is the factory fill tube plug. I have seen these in the bottom of many Ford trannys over the years. It seems that many of Ford units have this plug knocked out when the initial fluid fill takes place.
