Looking for a single 3.5" muffler
Like the title says, I am looking for suggestions on a single 3.5" muffler. I have dropped my cats and built a new Y-pipe merge. It's a 3.5" out and I'd like to keep it at 3.5". 4" won't fit without killing my ground clearance and my 3" catback is just too restrictive.
It must also be available in stainless. I prefer dual tips but a single 3.5" out is acceptable too.
I'm also looking for a good place to source 3.5" 304L mandrel bends. Columbia river only goes up to 3".

The Borla xr-1 (40086) by itself won't do much at all for muffling the exhaust, you'll want a oval muffler. Magnaflow has the 14151 (3.5"/3.5", 14" case), 12595(3.5"/dual 3", 22" case), 12909(3.5"/3.5", 22" case). Hooker has the 21507-2HKR Aero-chamber, which is available for about $60 right now. Dynomax has the 17517 Ultra-flo welded.

Thanks folks. I have plenty of room for the oval mufflers. I would like it to do some quieting of the engine. I'm thinking about putting one of the shorter Magnaflows under the drive shaft and another next to the gas tank.
Being in Hawaii the stainless is really the only way to go. Otherwise it just won't last.
I remember back in '98 I had an '85 Buick Park Ave and had to replace the exhaust. I used a thrush cherry bomb and it sounded REALLY nice behind the 3.6L v6 but this was behind a tiny exhaust and cats. My car has none of that so I'm trying to find a happy medium of flow and sound. The 3" single catback on there now is just too restrictive.

I have a Borla XR1 oval, 3.5" single in/out, 16" long case, in polished 304 stainless for sale.
It was used for ~3 months/750 miles before I decided it was too loud in my system.
I will let it go for $85.00 (almost 180.00 new list), but shipping IS going to be a BITCH to the islands.

I had a Borla XR-1 on my 98 SS with cam and bolt-on LS3, exhaust is 1 7/8" Long Tubes with3" y-pipe merged together into a 3.5" I-pipe and running over the rear to the 3.5" Borla XR-1. Was extremely loud and the rasp was terrible between 2000-3000 rpms. I hated to drive the car through my neighborhood, but I have to say it sounded badass at WOT
I had to do something to tone the car down some so I got rid of the Borla. I put a 16" Dynomax 3.5" bullet muffler in the I-pipe and then replaced the Borla with a 3.5" Hooker Aerochamber muffler. Made a huge difference in the sound of the car, still sounds good at WOT and is so much more tolerable all around.

I am going to give the Aero Chamber a try. It's only $60 right now. If I don't like it I'm going to do a setup like the vette's with a valve that opens based on rpm.
I'll use a Magnaflow with two 2.5" in maybe 3" with either a 3.5" or 4" out. I am still researching the best way to actuate the valve. I think a normal e-cutout would wear out from the duty cycle being to high. I'm looking at electro magnetic or mechanical. Door lock motors are really cheap and could handle the abuse I think.
