Default need exhaust opinions!

I have to make my exhaust quieter says the state trooper. I have long tubes with custom true dual with sweet thunders dumped under the Axle. I also dont want to spend a fortune. If there are quiet bullet mufflers then that's the route I want to go. If not what quiet cat backs are there

I believe if you get y-catted pipe it should make it quieter. Did you get a ticket? If you don't change it, how will the trooper know?

i can't see why you'd be willing to go from duals to a CB for a ticket.
for the money keep the duals and run a pipe over the axle to two more bullet mufflers (magnaflow and slp LM2 are quiet i hear). that should be about the same cost as a full cat back and still hold higher flow with a quieter sound than CB. basically going with a more stock type pre muffler/resonator and primary muffler out back.

He gave me a warning and I have to have another law enforcement officer sign it and mail it. I think just having them run out of the back will be a good idea and get some gutted cats

Hmm, sounds like you have a problem on your hands. I would just take off all the piping and run open headers

Haha in all seriousness, I would just get two borla xr-1's and get them welded in right after the Y pipe

Is there a decibal sound level in your state? What is that decibel? If not then was it to loud for him? Does his ears have sound measuring equipment built in?
Were you heavy on the throttle when he heard them? Does your State restrict the modification of the stock exhaust?

Is this Trooper a Mustang driver?

If you don't have cats on the car, you're already in a tough position.

I grew up in NC and dealt with these same issues. The state laws related to exhaust are actually pretty tight however the enforcement tends to be somewhat loose. I can't speak for your local laws but there are some tough ones out there for some municipalities.

It sucks when you get singled out because the state law is so restrictive. I would get cats on the car (whether they're hollow or not) and extend your existing duals out the back with some form of bullet mufflers at the rear. That would tone down the sound a bit and being able to visually confirm the car has cats would put you in a much stronger position to argue in the event anyone ever questioned you further.

Look into Dynatech Votex cone inserts. They'll help without robbing any power & you can still keep your true dual set up.

Go over the axle and then add resonators
