Tuner cats cable question

Tuner cats cable question Got my car back running but haven't tuned it since I put the new motor in. I have my old AKM cable, but my new laptop has a USB hookup. Will any USB adapter work on the cable or do I need to purchase the one from akm?

Yes I bought the cable several years ago before they offered USB cables. They offer an upgrade through AKM but its like 60 bucks. I have found adapters not made by AKM for as low as 12 but I don't want to loose connection while programming and fry my PCM.

I'm hoping for 12s on motor and 11s on spray this year. Engine is stock besides stainless steel valves.
