Default Tuner cats cable question

Got my car back running but haven't tuned it since I put the new motor in. I have my old AKM cable, but my new laptop has a USB hookup. Will any USB adapter work on the cable or do I need to purchase the one from akm?

It's a new laptop. The cable is old. I need a converter to make the cable USB.

Um is it a serial port?

Cause my cable does OBD1 and OBD2 and it goes to a serial connection then converts it to USB.

Yes I bought the cable several years ago before they offered USB cables. They offer an upgrade through AKM but its like 60 bucks. I have found adapters not made by AKM for as low as 12 but I don't want to loose connection while programming and fry my PCM.

Man thats old school.

I don't know if I'd risk frying a PCM, I'd just get their adapter.

I might have to ask you some tuning questions then or to look over some logs for me I can take a picture of my cable for you.
For part numbers and such.

I'm hoping for 12s on motor and 11s on spray this year. Engine is stock besides stainless steel valves.

Apparently mine has no numbers at all on it. I got my directly from TunerCats.
