white smoke from under hood while staring the car
so my car broke down , its an 01 trans am
well this is what happened
i was at hess and the car suddenly shutoff while i was staring it "cranking it"
tried again and there was nothing ... though it was the battery , someone gave me a jump and it barely strated
ok so i drive home and then same thing happen
but even after a million jumps
wont start ... so i decided to try another batter
while doing that i noticed the red battery cable is not hooking up right if at all
and while i was trying to start it some white smoke came from under the hood near the drivers side for like 2 seconds..."car is off"
anyone could have any ideas on what it might be? or what the problem is ?

White smoke is probably coming from the battery cable touching metal or shorting somewhere. there's also an issue with the battery's leaking acid on these cars and it will leak down inside the insulation of the positive cable and corrode it from the inside out. That happened on mine and I had to replace the whole cable so that's something to keep an eye out for as well.
The cable goes from the battery and splits in two with one end going to the fuse box on the drivers side and the other end goes to the starter on the passenger side bottom. If you saw smoke on the driver's side the problem could be a bad connection where it hooks into the fuse box on that side.
