Another clutch question - Monster stage 2
Looking for a clutch package to go with my build and could use some opinions - it's a built ls1 w/ t56, should be in the neighborhood of 500rwhp when its all said and done. I have no plans on drag racing, doing 4k clutch dumps, or power shifting....just a spiritedly driven street driven car that I may auto-x or track occasionally (road course).
I was considering the monster stage 2 clutch package with the 18lb flywheel - I had a ltw fly in the car previously and loved how much more responsive it made the engine. Made it effortless to rev match downshifts and haul *** out of a corner. It's a relatively light car, ~3000 lbs, and will have 3.7x or 3.9x gears in it.
Some questions:
-Will this be enough clutch for my purposes?
-For those of you who don't abuse your clutch, what kind of life are you getting out of it?
-Does the clutch chatter decrease the life of the clutch at all?
-Also, is there any sort of extra balancing work that needs done on the clutch kit? I had my rotating assembly balanced so anything that bolts "on the end of it" so-to-speak I assume would need to be neutral balanced.
Thanks,
Chuck

Yes, that clutch will be plenty for what you've got going on - no issues there.
As far as longetivity; we typically see around 50-60k miles with abuse and daily driving duties.
When it comes to chatter that is typically caused by an installation issue or fluid contamination.
And lastly, we balance everything separate so there is no need to do anything on your end, just bolt it in and go.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
