Anyone ever heard of or done this to a T56?

I'd be willing to do it for a customer but those look to be solid hub gears vs. the windowed ones of a T56.

Poor gram to dollar ratio in my estimation.

Ya this is a post =processing machining.....you machine away hardened gear material . It would be unwise to do this when the gear is soft due to heat treatment distortions. You would have to decide if the cost is worth the loss of weight as was mentioned.

I like my stronger gears more than my faster shifts. :-) An interesting idea but I dunno if the juice is worth the squeeze.

I'd be inclined to agree (money better spent somewhere else). I had just never seen it done AT ALL and got curious if anyone had experience with (and success/failure with) this sort of thing.
