Default Lt1 cam questions

I have tried searching and still can't find my answers. So I have a 95 formula 130k on it I'm rebuilding just to freshen it up. I wanna go with a different cam then stock I just want something a little aded power and economy but the car will remain mostly stock. What cams do you recommend. I just ordered pace setter long tubes and full alp exhaust and 3.73 gears. And it has a cai set up on it. I don't need a cam that I have to have the computer redone for because of where I live I don't have anywhere that can do it that I'm aware of. Would like maybe a little noticeable idle but really just wantin to give it a little pep. Thanks ya'll

Unfortunately ANY cam other than stock will NEED programming so you'll have to figure that out ahead of time.

The most popular package available is the LT4 hotcam kit. Been around awhile but it's decent for the owner who is looking for something simple and reliable.

Get a hot cam, get a tune from pcmforless or mad tuner and enjoy your car. Advanced Induction and Loyd Elliott have aftermarket cam's as well but it sounds like you want to stay on the stock ish side of things.

I have a hotcam with mad tuner tune. Runs pretty well.

Sure "it will work", but you'd be better off with a tune and the stock cam than with no tune and any cam change.
The tuners already mentioned can give you a decent mail order tune for something common like the Hotcam.

To be absolutely honest you cannot take competition cams advice on a few things.. always get a second or third opinion from those that have done it!
The best miles cam in my opinion in order;
LPE 211/219 560 112° add 1.6 roller rockers
Comp.cams 503 add 1.6 roller rockers
these 2 cams have more than proved themselves for me. Don't be worried about tuning your pcm there are MANY competent tuners I just happen to use Madtuner. If you pull the heads off atleast get them milled. 020" and get a 3-angle valve job AND absolutely without a doubt get NEW VALVESPRINGS

I would say that you'll only want to skim off as much as needed, say .005". That will leave enough material in the future if you needed more removed without having to machine the intake. I'll agree with the cam choices as well.

TPIS ZZ9?

U should google the TPIS ZZ9 camshaft. If sounds like what your looking for. As far as the PCM tuning u would have to give TIPS a call to see what it will run with for tune - i don't know if it will run well with the stock tune. Maybe?

Good luck,
cardo
