Default What to do

Jus bought a 96 impala ran the scanner and came up #6 cyl miss. changed plugs, wires, injector clicks on/off and spits, pulled #6 plug tested it and it fires. tested compression and is all good. cud it still b dist. or coil or mabye computer. any ideas wud b a big help thx

Try swapping the plug wire to 8 and see if the misfire follows

could be a damaged/worn terminal on the cap or in the cap.

People love to hate this distributor but reality is that like any other distributor the cap and rotor are WEAR ITEMS as in tuneup parts. When the cap gets bad as they all will with mileage people around here just love to curse the whole distributor instead of getting a clue and understanding the situation.

i tried that and it stays the same. it has the miss from idle and kind of smooths out wen full throttle.

thx ill try the cap and rotor next. one guy jus told me change the whole dist. bcuz the water pump probly leaked and ruined it. but the pump isnt leaking

Is there spark coming from number 6 wire?

yes i pulled the plug and tested it and it was sparking. im wondering if it cud b a computer problem

try rearranging the injectors and see if the miss follows the one currently at #6
