Default Lt1 spark advance

Hey I'm just wondering what people are getting at WOT on a close to stock setup. My lt1 would get knock retard at anything above 28* in the 4000-4800rpm range and above that I can get around 31*.
This is with a 13.5:1 AFR. I always run 94 octane is this normal for it seems low compared to some other LT1's but the distance/time calculator on datamaster says its doing 0-60mph in 5.4s which is good.

Originally I thought it was false knock because it kept yapping at the same rpm but after dropping my spark advance to 28* in that area and desensitizing the knock sensor a bit it's eliminated it completely.

13.5:1 Is on the lean side for making good power. Generally speaking LT's tend to make best power from 12.7-13.1:1. That could be part of the reason you are dealing with spark knock.

good point, you think it would be lean enough to cause that much knock?

I would agree on the AFR, that is a dyno number AFR not a max performance AFR. As I believe I have told you before though with the MSD opti the only way you know what timing is would be a keyed hub a timing pointer and at least a TDC mark.

You can do a knock sensor mod, its free and you can google in on how too. Only thing is? You have to put premium gas in it from that point on!!!
