Default Crankshaft help please...

I found a piece of metal in my oil so I am guessing I will be having to replace the crankshaft in my 1999 z28 ls1. Can anyone tell me how hard of a job this will be??? Any suggestions??

Don't be in a rush. Replacing the crank is a complete rebuild. Is the engine knocking? Is the metal fragment magnetic. How big? Picture? Did you over rev it a lot? Have you had the oil analyzed that would tell you a lot about engine condition. Cut apart an oil filter and see if there are lots of metal in it. I'm sure others will have suggestions as well.
