I bought a new four seasons ac compressor and the instructions say to drain the shipping oil and fill with the manufacturers specified oil. Ok. Pretty straight forward. Well after looking at the compressor it has a plug on the side that says add oil and torque to 12ftlbs. Then I looked further down in the directions and it says to add the new pag oil to the suction side. Now I'm confused.

No oil comes out of the ac line ports but it does come out of the drain plug. I don't know what to drain from where and where to fill it back up.

Anyone have any guidance?

add 2oz of oil to the upper port.
turn clockwise to suck into compressor.
install parts.

I had already added some oil to the drain plug hole and through the suction port. Should I drain it all and add it through the suction port only? I added closer to 6oz between the two holes and 1oz in each of the other parts of the ac system. Should I drain what I put in the compressor back out and put only 2oz in through the suction port and add more to the other parts to get back up to 9oz total system capacity?

I guess what I'm getting at is, can too much oil inside the compressor cause any problems when the shop vacs and charges it?
