Default Ls1 potential?

Hey guys just wanting to know the realistic numbers in whp n TRQ number you can see on a ls1 reliably. Im looking to do some racing and I dont wanna be working on the car all the time so im wondering what really is the max before you start having problems etc..

the car im looking at has a ls1 pretty much stock/ no porting or cams. just CAI. but if i start modding it, Im just wondering if it would be better to buy a shell n do LS3/LS7 stock n grow with it because I can take it farther.... instead

Thanks

theres like a million build threads to look at... Ask yourself your budget and your horsepower goals.

Well again it depends on your budget, and how much power you want. The LS1 can go only so far "reliably" without spending major money. You can pull about 500-550 rwhp out of these cars reliably...after that it gets expensive. You could go straight to forced induction and easily hit that number, or do a good HCI combo, and a small shot of spray. I chose the latter lol

Wow.. ok very helpful. Im in the process of doing a swap and didnt know if it would be better to stick with current motor or just upgrade to a ls3/ls7 and just use it as is for awhile until i can afford to mod it.
What is needed to get 500-550 rwhp N/A

500+ is hard to hit with these cars on stock cubes from my understanding. 1 7/8'' headers, true duals, FAST intake, a good size cam and some really good heads.

I was in the same boat and went with a stroker setup. they have A LOT more potential and are just as reliable

A stroker setup in going to cost you, but it's really the only reliable way to get over 500 plus rwhp n/a, and still have some decent street manners
