recently purchased a 4l60e out of an 06 astro van. wanting to do the servo swap myself. anyone help me in the right direction of removing it and what to purchase. just goin to use the vette servo. i kno its accesible on the outside of the trans. dont know if i need to buy the 2 and 3 servo as well. just doin a heavy cam and headers in a 5.3

1. First tap the cover with a hammer hard enough that it moves a bit.

2. You then have to depress the cover and remove the big wire ring. A wood working clamp on a pipe might work for you.

3. Then pull on the cover and hook the blue o-ring, cut it and pull it out. The cover should then come out. See my picture here:

I think the Corvette Servo should be plenty for you application. No need for the very expensive billet ones.

very simple then thank you. when purchasing the servo will it come looking like the picture or will i have to tear that down as well? should i buy 2 and 3 servos too?

You will have to disassemble it like this:











(Note: the blue spring is supplied with the Transgo HD2 kit; it is not in a stock servo.)

The "Corvette Servo" just consists of the two bottom parts in the last picture. It is just a different 2nd gear piston and housing. There is no such thing as a "3rd servo". The Corvette servo is in the $15 range; just make sure to replace all the seals too; a complete seal kit might be included with the servo, or might be an additional $5 or so.
