Default Racetronix Fuel Pressure Drop @ WOT!

Hey all, I'm looking for some help on tracking down a fueling issue. I recently installed a Racetronix pump with wire kit, new fuel filter and new 38# injectors into my 02 TA. The car is at Speed Inc. right now and they called saying that the fuel pressure was dropping to 30lbs @ wot. The car holds a steady 62lbs @ idle and does not bleed down quickly after the system is primed. What could cause this?

Fill your fuel tank.
Run the return line off the regulator into a gas can.
Idle you car with all accessories off.
Time how long it takes to fill a 5 gallon can.
Measure your battery voltage while the car is running.

Post the results here.

There are a number of possibilities but until we have some test data nothing is for certain...

The car is at my work right now but I will do as much testing as posible if I have spare time throughout the day. Today I will check voltage and all connections. Also I did notice yesterday that on system prime (KOEO) that the pressure would rise quickly to 62 and after the pump would stop priming the pressure would drop and stay at 46. I'm not sure if this is normal for a racetronix unit or not?

OK, only had a little time today to mess with it. I did check all connections and they were good. Then I decided to check the battery to see if it was causing a voltage drop. The 2 year old pos optima red top was reading low and wouldn't take a charge so I replaced the battery. The fuel psi is better but is still dropping to 45-50 @ WOT.

What is the battery voltage while the car is idling and at WOT?
What is your injector DC @ WOT?

I checked the voltage at idle and it was reading 14.0X I have not checked it at WOT though but I will do that today. I'm pretty sure the duty cycle is around 70 or 80 I would have to talk to the tuner to be sure of that though. I also noticed that if you rev it in neutral (took it up to 6k) the pressure only drops to 57psi so the pressure is only effected by load after 3-4k.

Ok guys, today I put a star washer on the gound to be certain that it is well grounded. Then I moved the power supply wire off of the accessory terminal and put it on the alt like racetronix recommends. I could not test WOT cause it has been raining all day, so I'm not sure if it has made a difference yet. I also have a regulator on order from the dealer, just in case I need it.

Well the dealer sent the wrong part today so I didn't change the regulator. I decided while the pump was out to re crimp the hose clamp on the feed line a little tighter with the correct crimping tool just in case it was leaking. The parking lot finally dried up enough to test it out late this afternoon and the pressure seems to hold at 55-56 at WOT now. I'm not sure if it was a power supply wire location or a in tank leak cause I didn't test in between those two corrections, but it seems to be all good. Now I need to do a highway pull to confirm it's all good.... I will try to keep you guys posted!

As always, proper installation is critical to operation
