Question Holley carb and 700r4 TV adjustment question

I am having issues adjusting my TV cable on my 700r4 transmission. I follow GM's procedures and it just does not seem right, here is what I did. I installed the TV cable onto my holley 750 DP with the throttle linkage geometry bracket recommended by them to use. I retract the adjustable part of the TV cable into its housing to start and begin opening to full throttle. About halfway through it starts adjusting itself to the required position by pulling back out of its sleeve until wide open throttle as expected to attain adjustment. Here is where the problem is, so when I let go of the throttle arm to the idle position there is no preload on the cable there is actually about .5" travel before the plastic clip on the linkage even comes into contact with the stop screw on the end of the cable. Is this normal I dont believe it is and if it is not what would be causing the TV valve itself to not be traveling as far as it should? Anyhelp would be great !!!!!

Maybe relocating the contact point on the throttle arm will help.

To anyone who would care to know I figured out the problem. I pulle the pan and checked the play on the tv cam bracket pushing on the plunger and it turned out the tv cable it self was binding in its housing half way up its travel causing only half throw out. I replaced the cable and adjusted it to spec. But it seems to not shift right... I am going to make another post about it though.

Don't drive it hard until the adjustment is correct, the clutches can burn from low pressure. Do you have the Holley throttle bracket? I know for sure it works.

I have been taking it easy but I do have the geometry corrector bracket for the holleys and the adjustment is correct to spec. What is happening is the 1st to second shift is good but the 2 to 3 shift slips or something before dropping Into gear , it almost sounds like it Downshifts then up shifts. I'm not sure what the problem is. Keep in mind the tranny is not new it is claimed to be rebuilt 85000 miles ago... Maybe it's just getting worn out?

I wouldn't drive it all until I had if fixed. I burnt up a 700r4 just driving it down the road and back. I learned the hard way.

4L80 and be some with it. Had my battles with the 700R and will never do so again. Well worth it. My 198K mile 4l80 is working like a beast.

Here is what my TV Made Easy set up looks like:

Here is how much slack is in the line at idle:

It is adjustable and it works perfectly.

Mine's all Lokar and looks close, the bracket being a little different. Have you checked the actual pressure readings?

I thought that at idle there should be no slack because of the tv valve having to have a certain amount of preload on it. But is the 4l80 the same case as the 700? And can the tail housing from the 700 bolt to the 4l80

As I understand it from my trans guy, there should be slight slack that is taken up just over idle.
