Default Is this the right stut/shock dust boot?

I have my engine and k-member out, and I'm taking the opportunity to install some KYB AGX's. The bumpers inside the stock boots are rotting out, so I needed to order replacement boots/bumpers.

Attached are the ones I got, KYB SB103. They just don't seem to fit right. There is a little plastic piece on the shock shaft, just below where the threads are. The bumper either barely sits on top of this, or pushes through, resting in center of the lower spring insulator. This doesn't seem right, as the stock boot rests at the top.

Can anyone tell me if this is the proper boot. And if so, how it should be installed? I looked at a picture of the Moog 90462, which was recommended in another thread here, and it looks the same.

I have already installed the bumper in the pic, hopefully in the correct direction

I have a 96 Z28.

n/m. I was thinking about it all wrong. I guess it's supposed to sit all the way at the bottom, until it is assembled with the strut mount.
