Default New Wheels/Tires/Springs for Garage Queen 2000 SS?

Picked up a 2000 SS with only 10k miles on her. She is like brand new and red in color. Problem is there is currently 4 fingers of wheel/fender gap and the stock 10 spoke wheels are not pretty. The rears are rather skinny. Car still has the original tires from the year 2000. She was stored in a heated garage her whole life, so the original tires are still mint! No cracks or any sign of dryness. They gotta go though.

Solution:

1. Lowering springs (4 fingers is way too much), but I will more than likely install headers in the future. I had Eibach Sportlines on a 97 SS back in the day, but it rode like a truck. Stranos?

2. WHEELS and tires. Leaning towards chrome ZR-1s (17x9.5/17x11) or C5 Deep Dish (18x9.5/18x10.5). The black and chrome deep C5s both look nice.

For an SS lowered on Strano springs, what is the recommended tire sizes for the 18x9.5/18x10.5?

My first guess from looking at setups is 275/35/18 and 295/35/18.

My worry with this tire setup is that the 295/35/18 will not be wide enough and ultimately look stretched on the rear wheel. I don't mind the front tires not having any bulge over the wheel lip, but the rear tires should show at least some minimal bulge over the lip of the wheel.

I think there is a national shortage of chrome ZR1s in 17x9.5/17x10.5. Out of stock everywhere!

Never heard of Strano?

Well, the Deep c5s will not be in stock until mid-June. I will have to go with ZR1s.

BMR lowering springs. You might not get the drop you want with Stranos.

Don't go with ZR1s. Vette wheels suck. Hell, look into Forgestar CF5s - they are a cheap, lightweight, good looking wheel. If it's a garage queen, why cheap out?

BMR has a spring/koni shock sale going on I'd jump on that if you have the funds. I think some 315's on chrome ZR1's are the way to go

Thanks. I was debating those two springs. I wanted the panhard to avoid any BFH action.

Even with the sale, Konis are so expensive. Maybe the BMR springs with some new Bilsteins?
