Default What track tires do you like?

I wanna get an extra pair of wheels and tires for the strip. Any suggestions on good types, brands and what size wheels and tires are the best bang for the buck?

My self I've only ran M/T but I'm going to be switching to a Hoosier tire. Nitto would be a good pick for you.

I ran the M/T sportsman pros and they hooked like no other.
They don't call em sticky mickeys for nothing...

Nitto NT555R 275 Extreme Drag Radials were the worst drag tire I've ever owned. No matter what I tried (shock settings, tire pressures),it was like trying to hook on ice.

I did nothing but put on a set of M/T 3053S Drag Slicks, and started cutting 1.40 60 ft.'s.

As the power level has increased I've changed tyres a couple of times.
Started out with Mickey Thompson 245/40/18's then ran a few sets of their 265/40/18's, now using M&H 275/45/18's.

just my opinion but i 100% agree with this. Nitto to me is a wonderful street tire but if i tracked my car regularly id have to get a set of mickeys for sure.

I have heard that nittos aren't very good, but pulled a 1.68 60 foot with nto5r's 275 40 17's and my car is a manual. Once these wear out, I'll try the 275 Hoosiers.

M/T has a new drag radial out that is a slick based off a radial. They are technically dot approved but say not approved for "road use". I drive my M/T drag radials 275/40/17 when I take it out. Going to get the new M/T 275x Drag Radial for the track, they are 275/60/15 aka 28" tall tire.

I have a set of Nitto NTO5r's and I don't really like them. I'm yet to get a sub 2.0 60ft with them. A lot could be due to driver error, but I blame the tires, haha.

I had great results with Hoosier's when I had my Mustang so I'll probably end up getting a set when these Nitto's are spent...

With just the regular m/t drag radials on factory 17, 275/40/17 with just bolt ons I cut a 1.58 60ft.

Multiple 1.52 sixty foot times on the Mickey Thompson 265/40/18's.
