gt4294 too small for 408???
Just curious what people think as I have just had my car dynoed and the results weren't what I thought my 408 would achieve.
Car is a WB holden statesman
Combo is l98 ls408 stroker, 9.0 compression, cleaned up l98 heads, 230ish boost cam,
Built my own turbo kit around a gt494 diesel turbo to see what I could achieve.
70mm comp ind, 94 comp exd, with a 1.44ar turbine housing.
Turbo 400 trans 3500 stall 9" diff with 3:7 ratio and spool.
The dyno was a Dyno dynamics dyno power was 560 rwhp peak but maintained 500 from 3400 to redline of 6500. torque 770 ftlb at 3000rpm and tapered off to around 500 at redline. this was about 13lb boost and is almost instant.
I am happy with the results just not what I expected as it made the power straight away and basically flattened off till redline. GT4294 small for a 408? Or is the driveline hiding what its putting out?

yes that gt4294 is way to small. has a small exhaust turbine.(reason it flatlined ) a s400 with 96mm exhaust turbine and 1.32 a/r would do u good. i would go 80mm compressor.

Ok thanks, once I saw the dyno pulls and how flat the power curve was I thought the turbo might be choking it. This thing is still violent off idle to redline so plenty of fun to be had till I work out a bigger turbo. I originally had this turbo for an ls1 till I blew it up with the vortech on it.
