Exclamation Can this shifter be swapped out?

Tearing down my car for clutch install,it looks like the car already has a b&m installed in it?
I already purchased a Ralco shifter, but now im concerned I won't be able to swap this out since the (b&m?) has its own aluminum cup and plate for the center section.
This shifter that's been in the car sucks, can the parts be swapped over for a new shifter or am I stuck now?
Here is a pic of it:

I dont see why not. The stock rivets have to be drilled out for any shifter and replaced with bolts. So.....yeah. any shifter can still go in there.

I assume you're asking if the inside of the cup is the same size as stock. You'd have to remove it and take measurements. If you pm me with the dimensions I can tell you if they are the same internally.

Why on earth would you get rid of the B&M? That is the best shifter ever made for our cars.

Someone explain why you would put the nuts on top & bolt on the bottom? If it backs out (shouldn't with those nylon nuts. . . but), the bolt falls & you got nothing holding it in place. Flip it & you've still got the bolt in there, but with a lot of slack.

My guess is that it was easier to hold the bolt upside down and get the nut started. I like your idea with the nut on the bottom and seems logical to me, although not a lot of room for someone with big hands trying to get the nut started.

The bolts were positioned that way because this b&m is threaded on the top,so it bolts from the bottom, nuts were there to just further secure it.
I'm just not a big fan of it,it's extremely sloppy and loose inside the center section.
Although upon removal of my trans, the 2 shifter bushings were shot to hell and in about 4 pieces, literally falling out lol.
Need to tighten all these bushings up in here before I install everything.

Where was this thread a week ago? I was looking for a b&m and got stuck with a ralco. The ralco works fine but I just like how the b&m has a new cup and bushing.
