Default MTI X1 cam

How is MTI's X1 cam compared to other cams similiar, like Futral Motorsports F11 cam. I think i want to go with one of these. It seem like everyone is going with cams around this duration. Now MTI's is a reverse split, why is this a "rare came"? Most cams are i guess you say has a foward split. I also see alot say to go with the TR224 cam. I think i want to go with a little bigger duration than 224, something like 226-230. What about lift? Going with a cam with a smaller lift better, or better on valvetrain. Is ~590 lift to hard on valvetrain, or is worth that extra hp it makes. I read over the cam discutions j-rod put up. (somewhat over my head, but i tried my best to understand) There were to many different applications talked about. I want to stick with my stock heads, so does that mean i have to get a bigger cam than some one with head work. I like the way the stock cam pulls at all around rpms. But i want more. I dont want to go with the F11 and not be able to cruise in 6th at 1500 rpm because the cam makes power starting around 2200 rpm. With these bigger cams do you always have to be turning more than 2200 rpm to be drivable.

You can't go wrong with the X1. It will make more power than the TR224.

IMO the X1 is a highly underrated cam and puts down one of the best torque curves out there.

I doubt it. FMS is famous for "under the curve" drivability power too.

I would love to see it.. Just one question, how long will the springs last before they need to be replaced?

X1 worked pretty wel for that dude in GMHTP. 445hp/409tq with X1 and some "Specialy masaged LS6 heads". Course, I have friends putting down 419hp with Just an FMS F10. I don't know if the LS6 heads were making th epower or the X1, but one of them is falling on it's ***. Sounds like the heads from youse guys reviews of the X1.

I have the X1 in a 382 and it is very very streetable...I wish I would have gone bigger. I have all the good valvetrain components (MTI did the motor and install), and said that anything much bigger than the X1 would require possible valetrain replacement...didn't want to do that. May look at new cams nect year, they seem to have made good improvements in the past year or so...I want the FAST intake, 90 mm TB, and a big cam (.620 lift and 244/256 duration or so...)

i love when people take over tech threads with showing off their own setups and telling their life stories. None of which HELP the thread

I had the car that was featured in GMHTP and made 445/409. The heads were LS6 Stage II w/no special adjustments or "tweaks" and the car was tuned very conservatively as I was spraying on top of it.

Relative to the X1, it's a great all around camshaft. It's not as aggressive as many of the cams that are being put in 346 motors nowadays, but it's enjoyable to drive, makes good power and has a good "old school" sound to it.

I've got a great sound clip of this cam on a C5 Corvette we just finished that I'll be glad to e-mail over to you if you'd like.

Would the X1 be better on a 114 lsa for an A4 car? or would that change its characteristics too much.

X1 on a 112 works very well in my car. After idle relearn it drives near as good as stock. Still has an occational hunt after a hot restart. Considering the only tuning it's had is MTI mail order, I'm very happy with it.

Poolfanatic, that car is one of my favorites from GMHTP. Yeah you're right, I must have been thinking of someone else's heads. Anywho, I love that frigging car. The wheels and stripes look awsome with the black. I'd like to follow a similar engine plan. Build it to about450-470rwhp on stock cubes, then spray it to 550-600rwhp. All in good time . The only point I was trying to make was that it appeared to me that the cam was carrying the package.

Sorry you don't like reading about opinions from someone with a faster car than you...and I was stating my use of the X1 and the fact that I would go bigger if I had it to do over again...you fuckstick.
