Default Cam suggestions

I'm putting an ls1 with basically stock ls6 heads in my nova wagon. It will be carburated and I'm looking for cam suggestions. I'm new to the ls stuff and am told that a carbed motor needs a tighter lobe center than an injected motor. The car will have a 200r4 and probably about a 2400 stall converter, 3.30-3.50 gears in the rear and weigh approx. 3200-3300 when done. I'd like something with good drivability and power, ultimate power isn't what I'm after. I'll drive the car often, so it's not just a weekend warrior. Any suggestions would be awesome, especially if It's something you've used or are using. Thanks for the help.

I am having good luck with a custom grind from Bullet Racing. 220-230 at .050,629 lift on both ends 108+4 LSA. There are a few good grinders on LS1 tech. Martin at Tick would be a good choice as well. Just make sure who ever you choose knows exactly what you are wanting to do with your car. A lot of guys on LS1tech are max effort drag racers and the grinders have that mind set from what I can tell. Good Luck with your build!

I have used the TR224 cam with 918 springs and 7.4 pushrods on a few stock 5.3's with carbs. They pulled good, got good gas mileage and very reliable. 112 LSA or less would be better. Nice mild idle, but not so choppy that it doesn't clear up by your 2400 stall.

You need a custom grind cam in my opinion. There are grinds for power out there, but the smallest cam that Martin specs from Tick may be your hot ticket if a off shelf is what you are looking for. You are in between what the 2215 and 2216 would do to make you happy i think. The 2215 would not be enough and the 2216 would be too much for your converter and gears.

Once the 2215 is in my 91 RS ill have plenty of really good input for it. The 2216 is great with more converter, makes power to 6900 and cruises great for me so far, but i have way more gear and converter.
