Default 96-97 ss

If one wanted to clone a 96-97 SS they would need:

Hood
Spoiler
ZR1 wheels that fit 275 40 17
Intake
Badges(maybe)

Right?

Getting rid of my car and getting a SS is out of the question so the quest starts to make my car what I have always wanted. Doesnt seem that difficult or expensive at this point.

pretty much yes but it will be expensive if you get OEM ss hood and spoiler since they aren't as common as Ls1 due to shorter run. there is a nice (in pics anyway lt1 ss near me that was for sale for 6500. I personally wouldn't spend the 3 grand ( wheels tires hood spoiler and paint won't be cheap ) copying something to still look like stock even as nice as the lt1 ss cars are.

OEM ss hoods are a **** to find in good condition. Spoilers aren't easy either, but a little easier to find than the hood.

Also, 96-97 SS's had the upgraded front sway bar (32mm vs base 30mm) and had optional suspension levels as well.

The oem SS intake is basically a joke, and most everyone agrees that any aftermarket CAI is better than the jungle-gym oem LT1 SS intake (though it does look cool).

And just a little trivia for you, the 96-97 Camaro SS was the lowest numbers produced Camaro SS ever in the history of Camaros-"it's the rarest body style Camaro SS ever made." Just a cool tid-bit

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but making your car look like a SS will not make it a SS. I mean this in the context that you'll never have what you wanted unless you actually purchase what you wanted.

As for the wheels, you need to find OEM 17x9 ZR1's. All aftermarket are 9.5's.

I couldnt give a **** less about it being a "real" SS. I love the sleek look of the car. Ive always like what Z28 stood for anyways, may just keep Z28 badges on it, not sure.

IMO a car is what its options are, not some thin tag. Im not the kind of guy to try and pass it off as real anyways since it wouldnt have the door stickers from SLP.

I just put a new motor in my car and I love it to death so I am just a hood, spoiler and wheels away. Already have aftermarket suspension and intake.

I am not going to focus on "real" SS parts: OE wheels, true fiber, etc should be fine. They never made a bright purple metallic SS anyways so its going to be a dead giveway to real fbody people that its fake but thats the car I have always wanted and Im going to make it a reality.

The oem 5 spoke 17x9's are easy to come by, as they put them most of the approximately 5 Billion LS1 SS's out there. lol

Whats confusing about this? GM never made Camaro SS's in bright purple metallic. OP has a bright purple metallic Z28, and wants to make it look like an SS car.

96-99; 00-02 got the 10 spokes (or optional chrome ZR1's). They were also available over the counter via the GMPP F1 package.

Actually my car is black and would need a full repaint.

Brent can I borrow your money tree for a bit?

This is the only known converted purple lt1 ss. This is a 97, A4, Z28. It is an original BPM car. I want the silver wheels, maybe in deep dish. With my stance I think it would look great.

i support ur decision to do what u want its ur car. but bare in mind asking on this forum for a million people to bash and say its not an ss, easier to google the 96ss and get its specs, or call slp. good luck.
