Questions for my first ls1 build

Default Questions for my first ls1 build

Ok guys I've asked for advice on here quite a few times before, but I've decided that it is best if I "freshen up" my ls1 since I have no idea how many miles are on it seeing its in a swapped vehicle, and based on how the motor looks visually. Based on its appearance it has quite a few miles on it, by looking at the piston skirts, crank, rod bearings etc... The motor is torn down, and I'm getting the heads, deck, and crank polished/milled/ground (if the imperfections cant be polished out) just to re-surface them so I have a perfect surface again.

Here are the specs of the motor:
-1998 ls1 w/ unknown miles.
-TSP PRC stage 2.5 heads
-TSP MS3 camshaft
-BBK SSI intake manifold, ported to match the heads, and throttle body
-PTM 92mm throttle body
-Long tube headers
-3" off road y pipe to 3 to 4" straight pipe

Supporting mods for mods listed above:
-lS7 lifters
-Walbaro 255
-42# injectors
-Summit fuel rails (if it matters)
-Dual valve springs
-Katech rod bolts (new)
-Ported and shimmed ls2 oil pump (new)
-LS2 timing chain (new)
-.045" Commetic head gaskets (new)
-ARP head studs (new)
i may be leaving something out, but thats it for the most part, ask if you have any other quesions about supporting mods

SO.. here are my questions: (keep in mind the setup will often be in high reving high g turns given it is a drift car)

-I've decided to get a forged& coated set of pistons, What brand? I was looking into Diamond, or Wiseco, But what should I get?

-Should I get higher compression pistons? I know with the prc's my compression is bumped up a little more to somewhere around 11.2 if im not mistaken right? could i get away with higher compression like 11.8 or 12.2:1 and not be risking anything while still on pump gas?

-Since I'm already getting pistons, should I have the block boared over any? if so, how much? I dont want anything extreme by any means, but is it worth doing?

-My stock rods and crank should be fine right? I hear stock 98 rods are pretty strong as it is, but what about the crank? I'd assume it is, but I don't know for sure.

-What brand bearings should I get? I know I cant buy bearings until I get everything measured/clearenced, but what brand should I go with? I want to get both rod and main bearings.

-What main bolts should I get? I was thinking about ARP's if they make them, I'm sure they do, I just havnt checked yet.

-Do I need any more supporting mods?


Just because pictures are cool, here's the car it's all going into. (obviously still a work in progress lol)
