Default 2 stage shots

Want to see if this would be safe and your thoughts. Just aquired a 2 stage system. Would it be safe to shoot a 100 out the hole and bring in a 150 shot couple seconds later. Would you stack the shots or bring them on indepently. My setup stock bottom end ls1, 5.3 heads, v3 cam, ls6 intake, hooker headers, vig 3800, p&p tb, ta diff girdle w/ 3.73's.

So you guys recommend having them indepently come on. When i go to activate the second stage the first stage shuts off.

Okay, now this makes a bit more sense lol! If you want to go through all that trouble to set up 2 stages exactly how you want then that's cool, but if it were me it wouldn't be worth the hassle

Why not use a progressive controller?

If your going to run 2 stages I always run the biggest shot first and have the 2nd on come on as fast as possible if you want to get e most of out your nitrous.

I would rather just stack the stages. There's too much going on when turning one stage off and turning another on. Hit both shots and let her eat. Make sure your tune is spot on and you will be ok on a 250 hit. I've asked the same question on here years ago and was advised by the same info I just gave you by some of the big dogs on here.

Doesn't always work that way when you are traction limited. Your first stage will only be as big as the suspension and tire can handle. When that happens your first shot is always the smaller shot. I do agree with you though on bringing in the nitrous as soon as you can as much as you can.

With a good tune it will live way longer than you think. As Cam or Andy how many passes they have on their stock bottom ends spraying 300+ size shots.

One more thing is that when I asked that question, it was agreed that it would be better to run 2 bottles. One for each stage because of the pressure drop in the bottle from the first stage will affect the tune of the second stage if you run one bottle. I think you will be ok with a 100 out the hole and a 150 behind it with one bottle. If it were bigger shots then two bottles might be a better plan

You're just missing out then. There are a bunch of guys here spraying that and then some for years. These motors are stronger than you think. Guys are running 8's with turbo setups on stock motors.

I see you have your screen name as stroked383hsr. In our crew we have a 127,000 mile stock bottom end, head and cam holley stealth ram on a 200 shot as we speak. In a 1992 25th anniversary camaro.

Just to give you guys a little idea, here is a guy on here with a stang with a 5.3 with a 200 shot.

Here is a stang with a stock bottom end LS3 on a 250 hit running 8's

Do a compression check and a leakdown test and if it all checks out, spray away. There were a few guys awhile back asking about spraying high mileage motors and one guys started spraying at 173k and is up 198k and still spraying a 150 shot and was thinking about going to a 175-200 shot.

When spraying a motor it just like the old saying "guns don't kill people, people do" well the same goes for spraying a motor "nitrous doesn't kill the motor, people do". 9 times out of 10 when a motor blows from nitrous usage, its always user error in not setting it up right or not checking the tune. Nitrous itself doesn't hurt the engine.

Off topic: the camaro we have runs 11.80's on the motor and you can pretty much guess where the nitrous time is.

Here is another thread of a stock motor with just an MS3 cam and a 200 shot. Check out the vid in the thread.

ive sprayed a 200 shot on my stock 1999 5.3 and i've yet to run into any problems (knocks on wood)... besides it eating the pinion gear out of my 10 bolt lol. if you had a nos mini you could set up both stages to just ramp in at set points (traction allowed) thats the route i would go.
