Default Need more power

Well I did a post about a month ago about what cam to choose for my ss. My intentions where just a cam plus my bolt ons I already have and that's it. But since the cam install I got the I want more power bug so what can I do to the my car to get me closer to the 500 hp range. I put down 403 hp with cam and after couple runs with some cobras I want to hold my ground just a tad bit better so I think 500 is good good goal for me.

You want 500 rwhp? If so, some heads and a 100 shot will easily do it

Well depending on how much you want to spend you could gain anywhere from 25-65 hp from heads alone. Most budget heads (like mine) would probably get you 35-40 hp on average. So you have heads ranging from $1300 to like $2600 in general. 500 rwhp is most likely not going to happen with a stock cubed LS1 unless you have a real happy dyno

How reliable are ls1's with a pro charger. I don't want to have a blow motor in couple months.

thats a vague question. comes down to how much power you put out, how good your tune is, proper upgraded parts and proper install. you're stock driveline will go, before the motor more then likely.

I know many LS1's that are fine with a procharger. One has been well over 500 rwhp, but got backed down to around 470-500 because of traction. Drives like stock until you hit it. really nice actually

Just as reliable as anything else that's done right Keep the power to an acceptable level, have a good tune, have the proper accessories, don't beat the hell out of it, and it will last a very long time

Good tune and fuel system it will live for a long time @ 500 - 550 hp. You can also add methanol injection to help with fueling and detonation control.

Texas Speed sells ported heads .you can get the ported ls6 heads and put your current springs on them.these engines work great with turbos and blowers.some after market heads with the right cam and tuning can make close to 500rwhp.consider doing a ls 383 stroker.how much can you dump into a car ?

I don't have a set limit of what I want to spend I just want more power. Im new to the Ls community so I don't know anything about the motor or what parts to buy to get more power.

I don't mind spraying but I think I rather something I don't have to fill every so many runs I do. I think I rather put the extra money toward a procharger or stroker.

Nitrous is a good power adder. Keeps the car NA until you flip the switch. Easier on the motor/drivetrain Cheap as well. Unless your constantly wanting to hit 100mph around every curve or racing/draging it and need to refill. Or just cause you can't keep your fingers off the damm addictive switch. Really depends on how much track/racing you do, compared to how much cruising/dd you do imo, which should make the decision easier.
Like you...I'll be getting new heads to start with.

I work in the oil field so when I'm working I don't have a lot of time off. I get a week a month off so no one really comes out and plays Mon-Thur.
