Default Ls6 intake, ls6 heads, ms3 cam and longtubes

Im looking to build my 99 ss up a little bit, i plan on finding some stock ls6 heads in hope of upgrading from my 853 heads, id like to know if id run into clearence problems with an ms3 cam and what pushrod is needed , tsp cam cits include a pushrod but im not sure which to order, either that or ill order the cam and springs and then measure? Any advice? Also would it be worth it to swap 853s to 243s?

243's are a much better casting allowing more port work with the extra meat. As for the cam, comp 918's are good to .600 lift or so and pushrod length can only be determined after installing the cam and measuring for proper preload. If nothing has changed from the stock setup the pushrods reccomended by a vendor may be close, but I never chance it. Last thing to do after heads are torqued, etc. is measure for pushrod length.

You would be better off going to a FAST 90 than an LS6 intake. Not much of a cost difference if you shop around. This will better compliment the 243 heads if you go that route. You shouldn't have clearance issues with that cam.

you will gain 15 rwhp from 243/799 heads .you would like a thinner gasket to raise static compression ,to raise the dynamic compression with a big cam like a ms3.you would like pac 1518 or better beehive springs,or get dual springs from TSP when ordering a cam pkg.what stall do you have ,if its a A4 ?I don't think that cam will pass emissions .consider a 228r,torquer v2/v3 ,or a 233/239 cam.you won't loose much hp ,but make more torque.how many miles on the motor ?you mite need new lifters and a ls2 timing chain.consider better trunnion bearings .

I have the ls6 manifold already so thats what im goin for as of now, emmisions im not worried about , i have a 6speed motor has original 91k, but will change out timing chain, lifters, and oil pump while there, im leaning towards buying the cam 112LSA and buying the prc double .650 springs to cover my butt, i guess ill wait till we measure to find out the correct pushrod ... Still in the hunt for some 243 heads its a lightweight budget build looking to get close to 400hp or more would be better but id be happy at 400, all this will flow threw a aet of pacesetter quicktrip longtubes and offroad y pipe

My car gained 48 rwhp / 21tq over the stock heads with tsp 2.5 5.3s, which are similar to the 243s.
