Ok, let me elaborate...
I have a single din Alpine head unit in my 94 z28.... I would like to take it,the mounting kit, and wire harness out of my 94 and put it directly into my 2002 SS.
Is this possible?

No, the mounting kits are different (although you might be able to make it work with a little persuasion). But for the $10 cost, I'd just buy a new one. The wiring adapter harness is the same unless you had the Bose adapter for the 94 so you should be able to just plug in the Alpine in the 02 SS.

Well. the harness fit just fine. The bracket, not so much.
Problem with the harness though... Whoever had installed the cd player in the 94 had the black ground wire from the Alpine directly bolted to a ground in the car. I looked at the harness and it had a the black wire on the pin that the diagram shows in the sticky up top, but on the opposite side of the black wire coming from the car, was a orange wire connected to it on the aftermarket harness...
So............. I put the black wire from the alpine, to the orange wire on the harness, that plugs into the black wire coming from the car...
Everything worked fine. ..... UNITIL i turned the headlights on. Headlights on....Radio OFF.
wtf is going on here..

The orange (and the orange with white) wire is the illumination power feed connected to the headlight switch.
The black wire in the radio harness should connect to the black wire in the adapter harness which in turn connects to the black wire in the factory harness when plugged in.

right. thats what I figured as well, however, the way the plugs go together, the black from the car harness lines up and plugs into the orange on the aftermarket harness.
Maybe thats why whoever installed the Alpine in my 94 had the black ground wire coming from the Alpine grounded separately from the harness.. hmm

Ok, so I need to order a new mounting kit. So, in the meantime I put my stock HU back in. Everything works fine.....EXCEPT...the lights on my fog light button and ASR button wont illuminate. They are both working, but the little lights inside of the buttons arent coming on. wtf.
