1963 MGB tease
Not going to start a build thread until I have more work done, but last night I was bored and tried out how well the engine fits. Firewall is pushed back, trans tunnel enlarged. Engine is a 6.0L LQ4 that I'm selling. Want to put in a L33 5.3L aluminum engine with a small turbo. A large saucepan plays the part of the turbo in this image.

That's going to be fun. I originally was planning on doing an LS in my 66 Datsun Roadster but decided on the turbo Ecotec engine for easier packaging. There is also a TR250 Triumph on here with an LS motor. It's a lot to stuff into these small cars. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

The turbo is a bit small, but it should boil some water really well.

I love these cars. I had a 78 mgb, my uncle has a 80. There is a mgb in my area with a nasty big block. I always wanted to put a turbo chevy 4 in one but a ls sounds much better.

The alternator...that will be fun. Without the turbo, it fits on the passenger side no problem. If I front mount the turbo between the engine and the radiator, same deal, but then the down-pipe routing will be interesting. It will probably be a reverse mount with a custom bracket. Dunno, maybe I will just do a head/cam 5.3L and be happy with that for a while.

I had a 63 MGB fitted with a Mazda 12A Rotary engine out of a written off race car in 1970.
It had 130hp at the the wheels.
Fun car but chopped out rear axles all the time until I swapped to a Salisbury.

I've been planning a swap into a 71 MGBGT, got a low mileage LS-1/T-56 from an 02' Trans-Am, but I just haven't been able to make enough room in my shop to get started on it. Looks like I need to get moving on it, by the time I get it done it will be "just another LS-MG" with all the ones I've been coming across in the works. Except I plan on a LOT more metal work than I've seen on any so far, while keeping it as factory in appearance as I can.

I've been cutting on the trans tunnel and am working on gathering parts for a 4-link rear suspension so I can run tires wider than 275mm in the rear. I will start an official build thread when I get more real actual work done. I've been too damn busy getting my 1966 Thunderbird back into working order so I can sell it as a 'runner'.
