Default how do I hook up my alternator wires ???

To the alternator on my 5.3 ??? I know where the battery 1 goes to ...but what wire frim my plug in.."79 makibu'

Depends on year of engine. But if you're staying EFI, and ots an 04 or older, the wires go to the PCM and yoy don't have to do anything to them.

04..w/carb..alt. is off a 04 surburban

What wire do I hook to the 04 alternator the brown wire or the red wire from this plug

The red is just basically battery +. The brown is just the dummy light to dash warning light. Does your LS alternator have 3 wires on plug? On mine the white also had to goto bat +

I did not get a plug with my alternator... how can I tell which plug do I need ???

THANKS but...my plug do not have a white wire just a red and a brown..and the big red 1 that goes to the post on the badk of the ALT...

the guy i got it from said it was a 3-wire...

U should really googles some pics of F-body, truck style, corvette , etc alternators cause alot of them use different plug shapes. After u determine what style alternator u actually have u can figure out which pins to use. Post a pic!

As Downset71 said, post a pic of your alternator. My pic shows clearly which pin on a corvette alternator needs to be connected, and how. I'm going to guess that your connections won't be very different, but ya never know.

I hooked the brown idiot light wire up to the L pin on the alternator. now when i turn ignition switch voltmeter starts to move like it going to read..i dont have a belt on the car yet... by it starting to read do that tell its hooked up right ???
