Wink '13 Grand Sport with 13 miles... Blown!

When Rick Hendrick Chevrolet called Vengeance Racing to build a Corvette for a customer, we were all ears. When they told us it was a brand new triple black 2013 Grand Sport with 6-miles on the odometer coming in for a supercharger system and a set of long-tube headers, we were pumped. And when that same car left our facility just two weeks later with 100 additional rear wheel horsepower and just 13-miles on the odometer, well, lets just say everyone involved was happy.

Hendrick’s customer, Frank DeRoberts, has been a Corvette enthusiast for as long as he can remember, and his new Grand Sport was replacing a supercharged ’05 Corvette and a ’10 Z06. Coming off those two projects, Frank was really looking for more power than the Grand Sport offered in stock form, without the big price tag associated with a ZR1 or an upfitted Z06. And that’s where we stepped in.

After talking to Frank about his goals, we decided to install a base Edelbrock TVS supercharger system, and a set of beautiful Pfadt long-tube headers complete with catalytic converters and an X-pipe on the GS. Keeping stock-style drivability and longevity in mind, the focus was on creating a powerful combination that would last thousands of miles without any complications.

Looking for a similar package for your next new Corvette? Give Dan Houser at Rick Hendrick Chevrolet a call and we’ll be more than happy to build a package to suit your needs! Dan was excellent to work with every step of the way and he definitely gets the VR seal of approval for all new Corvette customers.

only 100hp from the blower? I guess that makes sense on low boost and stock everything else. Should be fun either way.

If I had to guess car is on 8 - 9 pounds of boost and making garbage for timing. Done two of these on the Camaro's with the handheld tuner Edelbrock sends with it and saw about the same gain. Added some timing and took off the heat soakers and jumped from 438 to 527 rwhp. One Customer has 6k miles on the car already and couldn't be happier with it, especially after we gave him the before and after tunes that were on there.

I am sure VR could have really cranked some hp out, but at the end the customer wanted to maintain that new fangled warranty.
