Ls1 to 5.3 swap help please!
Hey guys. I have a 2000 camaro A4 w/AC. The LS1 is in the machine shop being checked out, and it seams that the massive amount of piston slap i have is due to the 3-5 thousands clearance in the bore. So right now i was going to get a 02 silverado 5.3 with 150k for $550. This would just be a motor to get the car up for transportation for now, then later put it into my 68 c10 short bed later on. So my engine harness is shreaded...so what harness would i need to mate the 02 silverado 5.3 to the 00 LS 1 camaro? I have all the LS engine accsesories what will i need to change on the 5.3 to put it in successfully? I have read that the 5.3 has the LS6 heads is this right? Would the 02 Silverado be one that has them? My LS1 has the 853's so that would be a bonus!!! Thanks for any help. Marc

Are there any differences in the oil pan on the 5.3? Do i need to change that to the ls pan as well? Could it have a 58x wheel? If it is a 58x wheel that would be a major change in ignition yes? I guess i will have to count the teeth on the wheel to make sure, the Ls had 24x right? What year did the 58x start? Thanks

Yes, you need to swap the pan also, the truck pan is deeper. Swap it all, pan, pickup, windage tray and dipstick.
You don't need to count the teeth, a 24x reluctor will have a black sensor right above the starter, a 58x reluctor will have a gray sensor in the same place...
