Default LS6 intake now....or after stall?

98 SS A4 convertible stock with SLP dual/dual exhaust. Not a DD, driven a few miles a weekend and stored the other 8 months.

Hooker LT headers, Gutted QTP Y pipe, SLP lid, Chris1313 ram air, new wires/plugs are on their way and will be installed soon. Once they're installed I'm then going to pony up for a tune so I can pass inspection. My question is, do I spend $320 on a ls6 intake with rails/fuel injectors shipped right at this moment, install before the tune and then start saving for the stall or better to just forgo the LS6 for now and put the money towards a stall which I will not be able to afford until next summer.

I guess in short, will the gains from an LS6 install justify an immediate purchase with what I perceive as a good deal, or put the $320 towards saving for a stall and do LS6 sometime down the road?

Thanks!

Stall will make more difference but since you need a tune now I would go ahead and buy the LS6 and get it over with. One less thing to buy later.

2nd on the stall making the biggest difference in the car but since you can't swing the price until next year I'd go ahead with the LS6 for 2 reasons: 1) it will help up top and support everything else you did 2) you're getting the car tuned and the LS6 (save for an older SLP setup) will remove the EGR which needs to be deleted in the PCM, you can go ahead with this during the tune.

Lastly you do not need the injectors or fuel rails unless you have something damaged; just the intake. `98s come with higher flowing injectors than 99 and 00, I think 01+ have the same flow rate. So save some cash and get just the intake.

Stall will be much more of an improvement, doesn't matter which one you do first.

Thanks, bought the intake. At worst I'll sell the rails/injectors/ stock intake and probably cover a chunk of the cost. It will be nice to have this done before the tune. New exhaust, intake, ram air, lid, tune up, tune, and tires should wake this sucker up! Then to save for stall!
