I had an oil test done of Pennzoil Ultra... here are the results:

I know you are using Mobil 1, but I imagine it would be at least close to that. I nowadays use Mobil 1 too, just cause its always on sale at the auto parts store. I feel 5k is a good safe yet not overkill in either direction amount of miles to go for synthetic oil changes.

Change intervals will range depending on type of oil used and driving habits for the driver/car in question. There is no one magic number for all circumstances.

I just use the car as a daily driver and play around sometimes. 5k miles sounds about right, I hear as high as 7k miles sometimes too tho

I would go anywhere near 7k on ANY LS1 engine. I don't even like going as long as 5k, but I do a lotta city driving. For my F bodys - the tried and true 3,000 miles has never steered me wrong.

5k should be no problem for a synthetic oil used in an engine that is tuned properly (not dumping tons of excess fuel) and operated in average conditions for average trips. 7k might be ok as well, depending on the oil and type of driving - only a UOA will tell you how well it's doing in your particular application.

3k mile oil changes are a waste for synthetic oil in an EFI engine. Might as well stick to conventional oil if you want to do such frequent changes. One of the primary benefits of synthetic in a daily driver is the ability to (safely) extend oil change intervals.
