Default Dew wipes/ window sweeps- full of problems

The typical f-body is starting to see its share of issues, whether its deteriorating trim or whatever..

I've done enough searching on the subject and there are no definitive fixes, can't we band together and figure out a solution once and for all? No *reputable* manufacturer makes replacements from what I've seen, not to mention the actual fiberglass openings in the doors are broken on occasion which makes an even bigger nightmare.

I've read about someone drilling the door/ dew wipe and zip tying them together.

All I know is I want to do body work/ paint in the next month or so, and I don't want to deal with this **** afterwards. Today I ripped off the remaining felt on my p/s sweep cause it was scratching the window and replaced it with industrial strength velcro- its a good fix, seems like it will hold up fine. I readjusted the clips (1 broke completely.. 1 broke halfway, all except one are rusted up). I got it to sit nicely except for at the end of the door, my d/s however is fubared.

Who else has dealt with this and what are your solutions?

These:

http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...-Firebird.html

http://www.camarocentral.com/1993_20..._p/wea-115.htm

Are the above good products? I know the 1aauto (or whatever it is) are garbage.

Also has anyone figured out a solution to the actual tabs being broken in the door where the metal clips mount to?

I don't really know anything about them. But I'd say go for it! It says OEM quality.

The problem is that I've found several people that say the 1AA strips fit like garbage and are shipped with damage. Then I found 1 person that said the Hawk's ones don't fit either.

I'm just trying not to waste my time and money.

just get them and don't be so scared about dropping a couple bucks.

most of the time ppl just don't know how to install
things correctly.

both of those places will stand behind what they sell.

Saying f body forums blow as you're posting for advice in one isn't going to help you.
