Default What date was Holley EFI coil prob solved?

I have an really early unit I purchased back in 2011 and just got car fired up Im having some issued with firmware and can't stand the big ugly coils, and wires running across my engine. Holley said it will take a few weeks to update my box so I just said screw it and ordered a new box next day air from summit. New box isn't so new says made oct of 2012 with firmware V2 2.1.0.5. Just wondering if this is the most updated box or if I got screwed again. I'm not very happy right now....

Any help appreciated.

Can you send that box back and talk to them to put their hands on another unit that will have a newer built date? I've don't that on other stuff and has worked well for me or better yet, of you can get a refund ill be more than welcome to send you one from where I get them and I'll even give it to you at cost.

You should be ok with that SN#

I ordered this system just because my stock PCM will not let me rev higher than 7700 on my 2-3 shift. It cuts out completely and will not do it on the 1-2 shift. I started with this issues cutting off right at 6700 and have made it to stretch it up to 7700 rpm's. my motor revs 8300 like nothing

Back when I heard of the coil problem they offered me their coils for 2~300$ IIRC or an exchange when they had the problem fixed which they were still in testing with the new ecu's. So after a few months I ended up just going the coil rout. So prob number 1 was kinda wrapped up( I did not know about ea coil firing a cyl on opposite side of engine at time) Then next problem came when I had limited base tunes, and extended crank times after getting car running. Prob 3 was when they told me I need a firmware update and need to send in ecu and it would take 3~4 wks then tied up in 2 weeks of shipping... Prob number 5 was when I pulled apart harness plug to instal tach wire that was not there and I fkd that all up.

I appreciate the offer and would definitely gone that rout but it's already installed on car and almost ready to fire. I just want to drive this car already man it's been so much work! lol I plan on sending the old box in for the upgrade then selling it with the coils. I will be needing a cpl more for customer jobs and will definitely hit you up!

I was told July of 2012 and newer has the issue fixed. Just DO NOT use non resistor plugs or it'll still have the same issue in boost!

Thanks! Yes using self learn but you still have to get base fuel table and a cpl other things close. Still a little off but runs good for only messing with it a cpl hrs. It is HP system and has a powerglide and 3.42 gears.

Cool deal looks like I scraped by. What base tune did you start out with on yours? I prettymuch built my whole base tune from parts of the stock ls1 tune and 2bar turbo 302 tune running 91 oct. I would like to switch to E85/3bar soon.

You should always use resistor plugs with EFI anyway. That goes without saying.

Tried to put car on E85 last night and not going so well. Anyone have a base tune? For some reason the holley 3 bar 850 hp 6.0L tune base map in my software only goes up to 240 kpa.

A base map is exactly that. One to allow the engine to run in some fashion until you can get it tuned.

You or your tuner will need to decide how many load sites and what they should be.

is there a way to stop it from killing the pcm using the stock coils? diode? noise suppressor?
