Default Pulling 4l60e without lift on PONTIAC TRANS AM

Anyone pull their 4L60E out of 2000 Trans Am on without a lift. I got a bad pump and thinking about pulling trans and buying one from the board sponsors.

Any tips or advice... Of course safety in mind.

Reason why I ask trans is tucked way up in frame. Will it ever drop down to access all the lines and bolts and at what stage of removal will it.

Thanks again...

John

Been there done that. Its not as bad if you have good mechanical skill and tools. Make sure you have a long extension for those top bolts. Protect your oil sending unit at the back of the intake, otherwise you will damage it. Do Not Put Those Allen Head Bolts Back In For The Converter Bolts!!!! Use New Hex Bolts!!!!

Use the big truck jackstands and jack it up high so you can get the trans from under the car. One of those cheap manual crank trans jacks from Harbor Freight helps out too instead of balancing the trans on a transmission jack. Air tools will help if you have them.
