Default 243's that where in a fire... should I buy them?

So today I was looking for parts in my local pick and pull and I stumbled upon a 09 gmc Sierra that was in a fire its really burnt. The intake is melted the compressor is also melted the valve cover are also gone. So I asked the owner if he would part with the heads and asked me to make him a offer I offered him $70 for the pair. He told me to pick them up on MONDAY. Should I buy them? what do guys think? I I haven't paid them.

Update I already got them looks like one valve seat came off. Other than that they look good just dirty of the ashes and melted stuff.

I'd scoop them up. Replace what you said, and deck them.

For $70 take them to a machine shop / engine builder and have them checked.

this.

They can still get damaged while being bolted onto the block.

Hmm tough choice. I'd hate to have money invested in something that could probably be damaged when the heads are inspected. I have a brand new set for sale if you are interested:

I'd say for 70 bucks its worth the gamble. Take them to a shop and have them checked for straightness and cracks.

Yeah you might be out some money if they are junk or you could make out like a bandit.

I think it's worth it. I'd buy me and see what the machine shop says. For 70$ you can't beat that.

I have a set of Edelbrock performer aluminum SBC that came off of a fire car... they were/are fine. I had them tanked, decked and theyre good to go, have been on the car for years with no problems.

Think of it this way: If an aluminum combustion chamber can survive millions of combustion cycles, a few minutes of fire should be a walk in the park. As long as they're not melted, have at it.
