NEED HELP ASAP: High pitch wining from engine passenger side
I started the car sooner in the afternoon today and it sounded like it whined a little and checked the oil which was a quart low. So I put some oil in it and it was ok there after. I drove it for a few miles to the store and when I came out and fired it back up it was ok. I drove with the music on and once I was home this awfull sound came up but worst. I don't understand everything looks ok... oil pressure, alternator, every gauge is ok. And then I got out and listened to the engine and it's a really loud whining noise that came out of the engine passenger side. Like a loud constant whine... nothing like a belt or anything. It's not the air pump that is 10 times louder. Please help I don't want to screw anything up !

Check the clutch on the compressor it prolly is dragging.
It will be really hot so watch it.
When it's not engaged (compressor clutch) it is dragging the hub & pulley.
So when you turn A/C on it locks in & noise disappears.
The compressors waveplate main shaft lost it's end play inside the compressor itself & now the clutch hub is dragging on the pully.
You can try to re-shim the hub out, but it's likely you'll need a new compressor.

Another option is to remove the A/C belt until you decide on fixing it.

Its actually not that bad to change the whole compressor and recharge it. I had to change a hose that required that the compressor be removed. Then recharging the refridgerant takes less than 3 minutes. Seriously.
Lemme know if you need instructions.

I've just spoken to my dealer and they told me that they probably only need to change the clutch and everything should be fine. Can I hope that this will solve my problems ?
