Default Turbo 355 LT1 Rod Question.

Im in the process of building a turbo 355 lt1. The motor is in the machine shop now getting punched out. I spoke to JE today and I will be going with their JE turbo piston. I am planing to use the stock crank. My question is what rods should I go with to pull it together. The car is going to be more of a track car 99% of the time. Looking to make 600-700 hp or in there but nothing is set. Just want to get a good rod to handle the power. Thanks!

why not get a forged crank? i know the stock crank can handle power but why risk it?

Stock Lt1 crank will handle the job! I suggest good quality lightweight H- beam rods along with lightweight pistons as mentioned.

A cheap alternative to the nodular LT1 crank is the 1053 forged unit you can find in some heavy duty Vortec trucks, ZZ4 and other crate motors, along with the old C4 ZR1.

GM #14088532

The Scat I-beams with the 7/16 cap screws are supposed to be pretty good for the money but I wouldn't mess with them if you plan on making 700whp. Do you mean 600-700 at the flywheel?

For the money I would run a Manley Rod. You cant go wrong with their H-beams or I-beams. Regardless of the make of the rod it’ll come down to your tuning, balancing, and gaping.

Depends on the CH height of the piston if you're wondering that? I dunno. The Scat Pro-Comp I-beams with the 7/16 ARP2000 bolt upgrade are probably the best budget rod.

I used Manley Sportsman 14101 rods and GM forged 14096036 crank in my forged 350 build. Added a splayed 4 bolt, windage tray, and forged pistons - good to go! Now I have to spray it one day
