Safe would be 15* or little less imo. Im at 14.5 now and thats where im staying. On stock ls1 long block besides cam. Info in sig. On 8 psi now going towards the 14 mark soon with lots of methanol. Timing will remain the same because i read and hear most start lifting heads on stock stuff when they start getting brave on timing and going on up lol.

Ppl told me with methanol on stock stuff it should be good to 18 degrees or 19 but im not made of money and i dont wanna push it. If you got the spare cash to chance it i say go for it. More timing more power.

There really is no magic number you start with. Just dont put anything crazy in and start tuning. Start low (not too low) then keep bumping it up a little and find the sweet spot

Keep the timing at peak torque low if you wanna be safe.

I have 19* at redline but only 13-14* at peak torque

I started around 12* and added the additional timing to the IAT adder table. This will only add the additional timing under 100* iat's
