drive shaft yoke t56
Hey guys doing a ls1 t56 swap in a 2000 mustang. Just curious how far my driveshaft yoke needs to go into my t56 trans. Is 2.5 inches enough? And also if anyone knows how deep a yoke can go. I found an aftermarket yoke that would go 5.5 inches into the trans. Is that to deep and would it bottom out?
Thanks! Jason
Or of anyone has a stock yoke that they could measure for me. Barrel length and end of barrel to center of u joint would be awesome! Thanks

The first pic is from the base of the balancer to the end of the input shaft. The second pic is from the centerline of the U-Joint to the end of the input shaft. I don't know how much room there is for an input shaft on a T-56 or if 2-1/2" will be enough, but maybe these will help you out a bit.

Thank you very much. That's the problem I'm having. I have found two yokes that I can order. One is 3 5/8 barrel which leaves only about 2 1/2 inches in the trans. Other is a 6 inch barrel and that will put 5 inches in the trans. I would go with the larger if I knew 5 inches would fit but i don't know if it will bottom out.

If you have a solid axle you want about 3/4" to 1" more slip at ride height. With suspension droop it will disengage more. The short yoke is probably for cars with a fixed diff that doesn't travel up and down with rear suspension travel. With a live axle like a mustang would have you want the long one.
