Default 1998 trans am with rod knock

I found a guy local who has a 98 trans am listed on craigslist as a lt1 350 with a bad rod knock but he sent me pics and it is indeed a Ls1 (guy must not know his motors) anyway the car is white ttops automatic with 155000 miles he says car will start he's just afraid to drive it afraid its gonna go. Car is bone stock and in great shape inside and out just trying to figure out what this car is worth. Thanks

I sold mine on here for $3800 with a bad knock in it. It was an auto 98 T/A with 101k miles. 1 owner and was VERY MINT. clean paint. leather in GREAT shape. full optioned car. TTops had shades. dash was not cracked. Brand new BFG gforce tires on stock wheels. Bone stock motor. Taillights were clean. Headlights worked. It was an unusually clean car.

I'm really disappointed how you guys refer to 100,000+ miles cars as MINT and GREAT. Are you car salesmen?? Let's be honest in our descriptions please. Far too many posters are referring to many cars as near mint, etc... No one here can be of factual assistance when cars are not described accurately. I attend and enter car shows regularly, have been a judge in the past, and rarely have I seen these high mileage cars in anything but #3 (average) or worse condition. Are there exceptions?? Of course, maybe you guys have actually stumbled upon a few, but I kind of doubt it. Only 5% of all cars are considered 'excellent' according to the KBB web site and I agree 100% with them.
99slomaro, that '98 it isn't worth much. I think 4u 2 nv is right on the money. Even then, do you really want to start sinking your good hard earned $$$ into a 155,000 miles 15 year old car? Think about it, and try to find something else.

4u 2 nv Looks like a sweet ride BUT what's the rest of the story?? Is this the car with the bad knock in the engine? Title OK? Carfax history look good?
I read in another thread that you have actual car dealers in your family. Many posters here don't have that luxury or opportunity, and the advantage is completely yours.

Carfax was clear. Title was clear. Oddly enough even with all of the dealers in my family every deal ive ever had was craigslist related....

94 Z28 1LE - paid $1100 with very bad paint on hood and roof and also would crank and crank and not start but only 62k miles. Owner had no idea what it was and simply though A/C didnt work lol. true 1LE 6speed car. 1 of 132 and 1 of 4 teal 94 1LEs that year. New opti and it ran perfect. Sold it for mid $4ks.

95 Firehawk #46. Wouldnt start. Just cranked and had bad paint on hood and fenders. Factory black 6speed car with OEM red leather (only 240 4th gens EVER from 93-02 got red leather) 1 of only 20 firehawks to get red leather. Again cranked and wouldnt start. bought with 78k miles. Put new fuel pump in it and it fired up. Got $4600 for car after putting in a $99 walbro. Paid $1600 for car.

And as far as the 98 Trans Am. I sold it for $3800 to a memebr on here. I bought for just over $1000.
