Kooks ORY install???
1995 Camaro LT-1 6 speed
I must be doing something wrong.
Header install was relatively easy. They fit great.
Off road Y pipe is another story.
It fits the headers fine.
Issue is the exhaust hanger off the transmission.
From the front of the passenger side y-pipe to the exhaust hanger bracket is 13-1/4 inch.
With the Y pipe slid all the way on there is not even enough room to mount the hanger on the trans.. Much less put the hanger bracket on the y-pipe.
It seems like the y pipe is 3 inches too short both sides.
Anyone have a measurement from their y-pipe or pics of underneath with y-pipe and exhaust hanger?
Thanks

If you're talking about the hanger that bolts to the Y-Pipe and slides through the rubber vibration dampener, mine did not fit either. I plan to put in on some day, but I just haven't been able to mess with it. I also haven't driven my car since I installed the headers, so I'm not sure whether it's an issue.

I never contacted Kooks about this issue, assuming it's the same issue, but I would be curious to know if there is a resolution. I bought my headers several years ago, but my car has been on blocks, or jack stands rather, since the headers were installed. I still have the bracket, but it's been so long I can't remember exactly what my issue was. I just recall that it did not line up with the bolt holes or the dampener, or both.
Can you post a picture of what you're talking about, or the bracket, in this thread? I believe I have my bracket with me here in Michigan, but my car is in Kentucky.

I can't remember the specifics of the issue, but that's definitely the bracket that would not line up on my car. That part is not supplied by Kooks, and is part of the factory exhaust, correct? They just provide a mounting point on their y-pipe? I seem to recall taking a wire brush to mine to clean it up.

Im 95% sure I have no support for my Y pipe, only support was at the catback over the rear. Currently I have an 18" magnaflow (9lb) muffler hanging off my Y pipe with no support except the header bolts....you will be fine. Although for $$$$ you paid for that Kooks Id expect whatever hangers they welded to it to be able to mount to something, or just give you nothing and save the trouble.
