Hello I am fairly new to ls1 and trying to get a t56 transmission for my car. I stumbled upon a 2001 Z06 Corvette t56 w/ 28k miles.

I am putting a ls1 into my nissan 240sx. My question... Will this bolt up to my ls1 from a 2002 f-body camaro?

secondly...

It is missing tail housing, what is involved in replacing that?

You're in for somewhere over 500$ in new parts to convert it to "GTO or Camaro" style.

I'm surprised this isn't in an FAQ on a 240 forum somewhere.

From what I have read I need a gto mainshaft. Gto bellhousing. Gto tailhousing. And the shift linkage. ? Does this sound correct.

Anyone know what this part is inside the tail housing and if it is required for this application?

The big gear in the lower right.

Alright guys, after spending 7 out of my 8 hrs here at work researching this conversion. I have come up with this parts list. Can somebody w/ knowledge about this chime in please?

Bellhousing (fbody/t56)
Mid/adapter plate (fbody/t56)
tail housing (fbody/t56)
GTO main shaft
Speed sensor and reluctor ring
shift offset lever
Shift Rail (f-body)

To answer the earlier Q: that gear is the reverse idler. You will need that if you want reverse.

Thanks for the response. Sounds like my tailhousing on the C5 vette transmission will have on I can just swap over to new tail housing.
