First I have a new setup going together and I have a few goals I'm trying to meet in the cam. I will be ordering something within the next week so

your going to get a few different answers. i have used neither but people seem to be happy with Martin at Tick and Lil John. those 2 names come up the most.

I used the TSP boost cam in my 5.3. 12lbs on pump gas. 530 rwhp. but an ls2 is bigger..

Here is what I would recommend for your set-up:

You have a fairly large motor for that turbine wheel, and we need to stretch the exhaust valve opening event to an earlier opening so that power can continue to climb after horsepower peaks. Since the turbine wheel is going to restrict power production past 5500rpm, this must be done in order to ensure a wide power band and so that power doesn't fall off the face of the earth after horsepower peaks. We want a nice flat curve after horsepower peaks and for it to slowly fall off. If the exhaust valve doesn't open early enough this will not happen and you will have a very peaky power band. Average power will go up as will peak power.

That said, your cylinder heads will help to carry power further into the RPM range as well since the intake port has a fairly large amount of cross sectional area and because of the large intake valve as well. We just need to shape that curve with exhaust events to what I know works best in these types of set-ups.

This cam only has .5 degrees of overlap @.050" lobe lift so it will have the "near stock idle" that you requested. Hope that this helps you in your decision making.

As far as the PT88 later on down the road, this cam would work just fine with it also.
