No idea why it says that, but all LT1 blocks I've owned have had it. They were still making a bunch of iron small blocks when the LT1's were hot off the press so it could have been a identifier.

Would be your cubic inches. How would the foundry know what crank was in it?

While we are on the subject, Anyone know if the mini LT1 has the same cast number? Is it the same block as the 350 LT1's?

Different bore, not worth it. There will be a 5.7 casting on top of LT1's, at least that's what I remember on mine.

It has "4.3" cast on it. No 327.

The L99 has 588 cast into the side of the block.

I love that 327 on the block. Very nostalgic, and no longer made. There was only one genuine small block engine, if it doesn't have the 327 casting it's an imposter. It has won more races than any other V8 engine.

what if my block has both the 588 and 327 casts on the block? Back passenger flange said its a 10125327. My dad said its a 96 lt1/lt4 block I'm just trying to verify.

if its a 5.7 (350) that will be cast into the back of the block, Upper left IIRC
